Pekka Kurki is a versatile jazz singer.
As one of the few male scat singers in Finland, Pekka is known for his multi-toned, wide sound and phenomenal improvisational skills. He has expanded the frontiers of jazz singing by developing live vocal looping and improvisation along with his own group PK’s Machine Number 3!
Pekka Kurki has appeared as soloist with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, the Turku Jazz Orchestra and The Great Helsinki Swing Big Band. In addition, he has performed as the lead role in Heikki Sarmanto’s jazz opera Manon on tour in Estonia and John the Baptist’s oratorio tour in Finland.
Apart from singing, Kurki masters the piano, accordion and electric and double bass. He currently teaches pop & jazz music at the Turku Conservatory and Music Institute.
