Finnish singer and actress Maria Lund was born in Germany in 1983 to a family of opera singers. In 2004 she moved to Finland after pursuing studies in voice, harp and piano.
Maria Lund has worked in the musical productions of several Finnish theaters, including Tampere Theater, Theater Europe Four, Seinäjoki City Theater, Seinäjoki Summer Theater, Manor Kievari, TTT-Theater, Jyväskylä City Theater, Kouvola Theater and Turku Samppalinna. Her main roles have included West Side Story (Maria), My Fair Lady (Eliza), Beautiful Veera (Veera), Song of the Scarlet Flower (Kyllikki), Sound of Music (Maria), Guys and Dolls (Adelaide), Tukk River (Anni), Lending Matches (Kaisa) Karhutar), Liz (Elizabeth Taylor), Pitchers (Sugar), Shrek (Fiona), Jekyll & Hyde Musical (Lucy), Sister Act – The Nun and the Villain (Deloris van Cartier), John the Baptist (Queen Herodias), Roof Violinist ( Hodel), Hair (Sheila) and Friday are the worst (Katherine Blake).
Maria has collaborated with many Finnish jazz musicians, including Heikki Sarmanto, Arto Piispanen, Sakari Kukko, Jarno Savolainen, Marian Petrescu and Markku Ounaskari.
In 2009, her album Ajan Sävel sold gold and in 2010 Maria was awarded the Kullervo Linna Award.
